Business in the Community

Business in the Community has been co-ordinating and leading the conversation around social value with its members since the Act came into legislation in 2012. It has contributed significantly to cross-sector working, prompting discussion and debate, and improving information on the topic.

Most recently, BiTC has been hosting a series of social value blogs to interrogate social value from different perspectives.

National Association for Voluntary and Community Action

Commissioning for social value shouldn’t be difficult. NAVCA’s expertise in this area has been strengthened through practical partnership work and consultancy services to the Local Government Association, local authorities, the wider public and voluntary sectors. As the national membership body championing local voluntary and community action we balance national overview with local focus to provide a range of services to both contracting authorities and VCSE organisations, including:

• training sessions, workshops and speakers
• commissioning to reduce wider inequalities
• procuring to strengthen the local economy
• bid-writing support
• strengthening VCSE and SME participation
• routes into existing community networks

National Council for Voluntary Organisations

NCVO champions and strengthens volunteering and civil society, with over 10,000 members, from the largest charities to the smallest community organisations. There are thousands of voluntary sector organisations in the UK. There are millions of volunteers. Every day, across the country, people give their time, energy and money. And for over 90 years, NCVO has brought the voluntary sector's people together: to solve problems, address root causes, and inspire each other. We know the power of the voluntary sector and volunteering. No one organisation can solve society's challenges alone, but collectively we're all vital for sustaining society in times of challenge and change. That's why, inspired and empowered by our members, we support and celebrate volunteering in all its diversity, and champion and strengthen the voluntary sector – by making sure government knows its true value, and making sure it can continue to do what it does best.
